Grandparents Day

On the 29th of January we celebrated Grandparents Day as part of Catholic schools weeks. Firstly we had mass in the church and then the grandparents came back to the school for tea, coffee, biscuits, cakes and entertainment. The whole school went into the hall and sat down ready to sing and dance. Mr. O’ Connor said a few words about the importance of grandparents in our lives. Our first song was ‘Beidh Aonach Amarach’ which the whole school sang even the junior and senior infants. After this Hannah, Norah, Isabelle, Kayla, Laura Aóibhann and James performed some Irish Dancing. They were fantastic. Finally we played our ukuleles and sang two more songs – ‘Lig mé Saor’ and ‘Pompeii’ Norah and Billy played the tin whistle and fiddle. After our performance we showed our grandparents around the school. There was a massive turnout and it was a great day. We hope the grandparents enjoyed it.
